Surplus are all given back to Singaporeans

The SG Bonus should not be seen in islation as the Government does not save surpluses. It gives all surpluses back to Singaporeans, but in different forms, Second Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong said.

Of the $7.7 billion unexpected surplus, the Government has set aside $5 billion for the Rail Infrastructure Fund. This will benefit commuters.

Another $2 billion is set aside for premium subsidies and will directly benefit lower- and middle-income Singaporeans and their families.

$700 million goes to the SG Bonus as a direct transfer to all Singaporeans age 21 and older.
